Devotion to Tuna
COMMITTED Our 4 Points of Dedication
We will continue to provide only the very best tuna even as we change and adapt with the times, just as we have for the last 90 years.

From Tenma to Noda,
And The Whole World
Our company was started by my great-grandfather in 1926, the very first year of Japan's Showa era. At the time, he set up shop at the Zakoba fish market, known as the three major markets of then-modern Osaka, then moved the base of his activities to Noda when Kyoto and Osaka created central markets around 1930. After becoming an incorporated company in 1961, expanded his purchase zone, and began engaging in trade, which we continue to operate smoothly to this day.

Raw Is
Not Always Best
Good, delicious tuna isn't determined by species as much as it is by these questions: where, when, and how was it caught, and how was it done ikejime (to let out the blood from a live fish for the purpose of preserving its freshness) after being caught? Here at Yamagen, we pride ourselves on being a first-class intermediate tuna wholesaler, and on continuing to provide the highest quality tuna to our customers. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the support of popular Kansai stores, who are very particular about flavor.

The greatest trust,
coupled with adapting
to a new age.
Today, by creating direct purchasing pipelines both in and out of Japan, we are able to stock the finest quality tuna from waters around the world, including everything from wild tuna to farmed and aquaculture grown (from frozen to raw), such as Southern Bluefin tuna, individually fished and net-caught Japanese Bluefin tuna, and Atlantic longline Blackfin tuna, enabling us to procure a wide variety of products, from farmed tuna to lean tuna, and ensuring we are ready to respond to any request. We stand behind everything we sell, and guarantee everything to be of the finest quality.

High-Quality Tuna,
Closer Than Ever
We also run our own delivery service, and are prepared to deliver anywhere in or out of Japan, with "Better products in good condition" as our motto. In addition to servicing restaurants, we also accept orders from regular households, so whether it's for the mid-year gift, a year-end present, or something else altogether, we hope that everyone will consider making use of Yamagen's fine-quality tuna.
